Today was the first day of my internship at Washingtonian Magazine. I MADE IT OUT ALIVE! I was so anxious about starting a “real job” up until yesterday when I spent the entire day with my best friend and my favorite toddler in the entire universe. I kept telling her I was worried (go figure) about going into the “real world” like it was some kind of different dimension where everything was automatically scary and I wouldn’t be ready for it. She seriously calmed me down and I thank her for why I had such an incredible first day. My butterflies were serious as my dad and I drove into D.C. this morning, but because of her reassurance I was able to channel that nervous energy into excitement and positive vibes instead and I rocked it out.
Thanks to my wonderful daddy for driving me into the scary world of D.C. today and literally dropping me off right at the door to the Washingtonian office. Thanks to my incredible boyfriend for answering my phone call today during my lunch break so I could tell him how my day was going and hear his lovely voice again. Thanks to my awesome mama for helping me decide on the perfect outfit for my first day. Thanks to Washingtonian Magazine for giving me this opportunity to try something completely out of my comfort zone and to everyone at the office that was so friendly and reassuring during my time there today. And thanks to D.C. Pizza for cooking me the dankest pizza I have had in a while (and for enticing my coworker to come grab lunch with me!).
I wish Nicholas was in NoVA this summer to experience this with me, but I am so glad I was able to chat with him for a while during work. Also, I got lots of Snapchats of Willow today from my sweet roommate, which makes me even more excited to go down the beginning of June to see her!
I took pictures of the sunset in Nokesville today. I missed NoVA just a little bit. Today was great. I cannot wait for tomorrow.
