A pioneer of a distinct synth-pop and funk style known as “Minneapolis sound” passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, April 21. Prince was a legend, transcending genres and cooking up a whole new style of music. Like another musical genius (*ahem* MJ), many paid tribute to the star by buying his music on iTunes, racking up $ immense album sales since his death – upwards of 650,000 albums. While fans hope to relive the memories of his music by purchasing songs in his honor, I hope to relive those memories by streaming his music for many years to come.
